In 1979, after their dedication to the research and development of barley, the “Haruna Nijo” Barley was born. It has been described as a “Miracle Barley” thanks to its ideal nutrition balance and fermentation ability.

This “Miracle Barley” is used as the world’s highest grade of parent strain for developing high-quality breeds of barley even after all these years.

One of the essential ingredients when brewing the perfect beer hops help to create the right amount of bitterness and aroma for the beer.

In addition, hops help in maintaining froth longer and restrain the growth of undesirable bacteria, keeping the beer in good condition longer. The Sapporo factory also developed a virus-resistant variety of hops which helped them to overcome a hops crisis in 1970.
